Outreach Coordinator

Description:

The Outreach Coordinator will engage individuals utilizing the services of our current intra-church outreach programs to help develop support plans for those in need. They will also partner with the congregation in developing new programs to further meet the needs of Ponca City community members. They will develop and implement plans for community engagement, build relationships with community partners and volunteers, and organize outreach events.

 

The schedule for the Outreach Coordinator will be flexible, including some evenings and weekends. The position is currently part-time (approx 20 hours) and could transition to full-time.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Resource and Referral: 

Link clients to relevant internal and external community services, such as housing, healthcare, and other social services, and provide information on their availability.

​​•  Client Advocacy: 

Advocate for clients and help them address barriers to accessing necessary care. 

​•  Support current Church Faith Based Ministries:

Help recruit volunteers to further develop current intra-church outreach programs.

​•  Develop and coordinate an Outreach team

Recruit Outreach team members by communicating and educating potential volunteers with an emphasis on including community youth

•  Collaboration: 

Work with church staff, volunteers, and other community service providers to coordinate care and implement outreach programs. 

​•  Program Development: 

Plan outreach activities to meet the needs of the community.

​•  Community Engagement:

Build relationships with community organizations and other service providers

 Qualifications and Skills 

•  Experience:

Experience as a social worker or similar community helping roles. 

​•  Interpersonal Skills:

Strong empathy, social perceptiveness, and the ability to build professional, helping relationships with diverse individuals and groups.

​​•  Knowledge:

Familiarity with local community resources

​•  Professional Qualities:

Resilience, creativity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and safeguarding
 

Choir Internship Opportunity

Description
Four choir interns will be selected to work with the Chancel Choir of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Ponca City. The intention is to have one vocalist for each section, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass. Priority
will be given to students in their senior year at Ponca City High School, but students enrolled in any area high school or college are eligible to apply. Interns will be under the direction of the Choir Director and the Senior
Pastor of FCC Ponca City.

Expectations
• Rehearsal - Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings
• Performance - each Sunday morning and optional special occasions
• Reflection - Weekly group conversation with the pastor and other interns and written responses to the following questions about the current week’s choir selection:

•    What is the message of the selection?
•    How is the message in alignment with my tradition?  
•    How is the message different from my tradition?  
•    Which musical elements am I drawn to?  
•    Which musical elements are uncomfortable for me?

 

Compensation
$200 each month
Prorated with a $15 reduction for each missed rehearsal, performance, or reflection session.

Interviews will include singing a prepared piece and sight reading.

​Bring a copy of the piano accompaniment for your prepared piece.
