Flowers for Worship

We still need several individuals or families to sign-up to provide flowers for Sunday services for the remaining months of this year. Please check the “Flower Calendar” in the foyer next to the offices for a convenient date. Procedure information is located on the calendar. Be sure to let Shawna, the church secretary, know how you want your name listed in the bulletin. The cost is $30 a Sunday. Thanks to all who have provided flowers this past year. Fresh flowers add a special touch to the service.

Cancellation Policy for Services

Sunday worship services are held every Sunday regardless of weather. We will not cancel worship due to weather, but all worshipers are asked to be mindful of their safety. Depending on the amount of snowfall or freezing rain and the day of the week it falls will determine whether sidewalks and parking areas are cleared and safe. No one is expected to travel or walk in unsafe conditions even if they have responsibilities on Sunday mornings. But, wherever “two or more are gathered” we will always have Sunday worship at the regularly scheduled times.

Special programs, administrative meetings, rehearsals, etc. may be cancelled due to weather. Leaders for these types of meetings are asked to decide for their groups and notify members in the event of dangerous weather conditions.

Our Hospital Ministry

Here are some steps we ask you to follow when you or a family member is admitted to the hospital.

1.                  Please call the pastor or the church office, and tell us.

2.                  While you are in the process of being admitted, be sure you tell the hospital clerk that you are a member of First Christian Church.  When they ask if you would like the church notified of your admission, say “Yes.”

Due to “Patient Privacy” regulations, your church will not know you have been admitted unless you do the steps above.  Your pastoral staff and Elders want to visit you in the hospital, and doing these steps is one sure way they will know you are hospitalized.
