Recycling Efforts Continue Disciple Women are still sponsoring a recycling
program for used computer printer cartridges( Ink Jet and Laser) and old cell
phones. Please bring both of these items to the church office and put them in
the white recycling basket so we can package them up and get them sent off.
Also, ask you friends, relatives, work associates, and anyone else you can
think of to help us with this recycling effort. Special thanks to Max Berry for collecting 15 cells
phones from a local business, which was changing phones. These phones will be
redeemed for over $75! Church Youth, most of your friends probably have
multiple old cell phones which they are no longer using. How about asking
them to donate them to this project! Thanks. |

Recycle and Redeem *Fact: Last year
alone, more than 300 million depleted computer printer cartridges were thrown
in the trash. *Fact: Last year alone, 30,000,000 cell phones were
tossed or replaced. *Fact: Computer printer cartridges can be recycled and
redeemed for as much as $1.00 to $6.00 per cartridge. *Fact: Used cell phones can be redeemed for as much as
$2.00 to $28.00 per phone. *Fact: CWF is sponsoring a
recycling/redemption program as a fundraiser for our Church. *Fact: WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Please bring used laser and inkjet
cartridges and used cell phones to the church. There is a white basket in the
room next to the church office in which to place them. If possible, put the
cartridges in the package from which you take your new cartridge or put them
in a baggie to prevent leakage before putting them in the basket. We cannot
use any phone accessories, just the phones with batteries. *Fact: This is not a one-time collection. We will collect
throughout the year in hopes of making enough money for a major CWF project
for the Church. *Fact: The more people who know about this project, the
better. Please offer to recycle these items for your friends, encourage your
employees to join the effort, and let us know if your have ideas for others
whom we could contact. Contact
JoAnne Robison, Andrea Morriss, Sandy Pendergraft, or Linda VanPeenen if you
have any questions about the project. |

Flowers
for Worship We still need
several individuals or families to sign-up to provide flowers for Sunday services
for the remaining months of this year. Please check the “Flower Calendar” in
the foyer next to the offices for a convenient date. Procedure information is
located on the calendar. Be sure to let Susan, the church secretary, know how
you want your name listed in the bulletin. The cost is $30 a Sunday. Thanks
to all who have provided flowers this past year. Fresh flowers add a special
touch to the service. |

Cancellation Policy Sunday worship services are held every Sunday
regardless of weather. We will not cancel worship due to weather, but all
worshipers are asked to be mindful of their safety. Depending on the amount
of snowfall or freezing rain and the day of the week it falls will determine
whether sidewalks and parking areas are cleared and safe. No one is expected
to travel or walk in unsafe conditions even if they have responsibilities on
Sunday mornings. But, wherever “two or more are gathered” we will always have
Sunday worship at the regularly scheduled times. Special programs, administrative
meetings, rehearsals, etc. may be cancelled due to weather. Leaders for these
types of meetings are asked to decide for their groups and notify members in
the event of dangerous weather conditions. |

CWF News CWF is still collecting green stamps. If you have
any or know of someone that has any, please turn them in to the church
office. They do not need to be placed in books; the ladies of the CWF will do
that. |

Help send kids to camp If you shop at Albertson’s, be
sure to show the cashier your Community Partners Card that supports the
camping program for First Christian Church youth. A percentage of your purchase is paid back to the youth,
averaging between $350 and $500 quarterly.
Everyone can help. Get your
card at the church office. |

Our Hospital Ministry Here
are some steps we ask you to follow when you or a family member is admitted
to the hospital. 1.
Please call the pastor or the church office, and tell us. 2.
While you are in the process of being admitted, be sure
you tell the hospital clerk that you are a member of First Christian
Church. When they ask if you would
like the church notified of your admission, say “Yes.” Due to “Patient Privacy” regulations,
your church will not know you have been admitted unless you do the steps
above. Your pastoral staff and Elders
want to visit you in the hospital, and doing these steps is one sure way they
will know you are hospitalized. |
